ROSS Burkinshaw took just 98 seconds to prove he is back last night.
The Oughtibridge bantamweight knocked out Leeds fighter Mike Holloway with a wicked right upper-cut at Don Valley Stadium.

Burkinshaw, a serving soldier in The Rifles regiment, then turned peacemaker as rival Leeds and Sheffield fight fans clashed in the seated areas. One fan, from Leeds, appeared semi-conscious on the floor as the crowds dispersed.

The 22-year-old Sheffield prospect had earlier successfully tested his shoulder for the first time since dislocating it in February.

The strength and power of the defining punch indicated the surgeons had done the job well.

"The shoulder is fixed, the boss is back. There were no twinges," he said.

"I wasn't happy with the crowd disturbance though. I went on the microphone and told them that we had both just boxed but we were still friends. We shook each other's hands before and after the fight because it is a sport at the end of the day."

Burkinshaw says he wants another fight before Christmas "and then back on track for a British title eliminator."

Stannington scrapper Billy Boyle scored his 10th straight win (seventh KO of his career) against Latvian Martin Kukuls.

The visitor unwisely traded punches in a gruelling second round brawl before the ref stepped in to prevent him getting battered in the third. Parson Cross middleweight debutant Wayne Reed outpointed Rotherham's Paul Royston.

And Lee Edwards disposed of awkward opponent David Kirk.

London cruiser Terry Dunstan, jailed for eight years for serious crimes, but now back in the ring for the first time since 1999, picked up the threads of a career record which had seen him win 19 of 21 fights.

But he was clearly struggling with ring rust against Featherstone opponent Paul Bonson, a man who normally loses (w 20, l 101, d 8) but is rarely stopped inside the distance.

Dunstan, who won the European cruiserweight title a decade ago, won on points, but clearly has to get his timing back.

Watch out for video of the boxing on thestar.co.uk next week. And on Monday we will be showing exclusive scenes from the crowd disturbance.
