WEDNESDAY chairman Lee Strafford was re-elected to the board at the club's AGM at a city-centre hotel today.
For more on the AGM, see The Star tomorrow, Wednesday, November 25, 2009.

Shareholders also reappointed directors Nick Parker and Ken Cooke.

Around 250 shareholders attended the meeting and it was a relatively low-key affair compared to some AGMs of the past.

Manager Brian Laws, Strafford and chief executive Parker each spoke as part of a presentation that explained the changes made at Hillsborough during the last year on and off the field, and the efforts being made to take the Owls forward.

There was some criticism from the floor, in view of the team's lowly league position, but in general shareholders praised the way the club presented their case.

It was made clear that the Owls are still confident of new investment but Parker placed no time scale on a deal.

Strafford said afterwards: "It was a very constructive meeting, with lots of passion, and understandable disappointment relating to the league position.

"I think the feedback from the floor was that people were happy with the way things were presented to them, and it was reflective of where we are as a club."

Laws produced statistics that backed up his view that the team were playing better football than in recent years.

He admitted that the most important statistic was the number of games won; he was disappinted with the return so far, considering the brand of football that the team have been producing; but he insisted that the results will turn.

Strafford said he was pleased to be re-elected the board: "When people say 'we want you to carry on doing this job', that feels good.

"I felt an obligation a year ago to jump in and sort this out; this was a big renewal of that obligation."

just a couple of points about our league position, firstly I like to say the defence looks a little more stable now with simek back (getting better with every game but still a little way to go) buxton far better at center half than right back, but now we are not scoring goals, for me tuday is not back to his best after the neck injury but very capable when fully fit,so that leaves the other striker varney to be truth full I have only seen him have a couple of half decent games since is return from derby,I cant understand why we put him out wide when laws takes jj off when we have esajas on the bench, why not try Clarke & tudgay up front with esajas coming on for jj? who i must say was on top form before his niggles, every time we make a change it just gets worse, so come on BL lets make changes up front and start scoreing goals again.

No mention of the lack of progress during the three years that Brian Laws has been Team Manager. Lee Strafford should hold Brian Laws more accountable for the position of the club in the Championship as to just express disappointment is unacceptable. My concern is that if Brian Laws were allowed to get rid of good players and to replace them with mediocre players, poor results will follow. Thus by the time he leaves the Club by mutual consent, we will be left with a poor team.

You're getting boring now Kenn. You are in a vast minority and can't really understand the club you apparently support. Which players are you referring to?
