DONCASTER Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll was set to step up his efforts today to bring a striker in on loan ahead of tomorrow's 5pm deadline.
O'Driscoll said: "It is difficult because there is not a lot about and the ones that are worth bringing in are not going anywhere.
"It may be that we bring someone in just for the sake of it. It is not the best thing to do but it is another face. But it could be in the last hour before the deadline when things start to happen."
Another blank return in last night's goalless draw with fellow Championship strugglers Nottingham Forest at the Keepmoat Stadium, allied to James Hayter's knee injury, served to add more urgency to his quest.
He said: "We are doing everything else right but we can't seem to put the ball in the back of the net and that's not for a lack of trying or a lack of people taking responsibility.
"James Coppinger hit the bar. There was the goal that was or wasn't and Stuart Elliott's late effort, which would have gone in were we top of the league."
O'Driscoll was due to check up on Hayter today, but there were fears last night that he could be facing a spell on the sidelines.
Hayter had looked eager to impress after being recalled to the starting line-up.
O'Driscoll said: "We are a bit worried about James; his knee is a bit sore.
"He's tweaked his medial ligament and he's done that before so we'll have to look at him today. He went down challenging for a cross and I think Forest defender Morgan fell on him."
Hayter featured in a new-look front three which also included former Forest favourite Gareth Taylor – preferred to Jason Price – and Coppinger.
O'Driscoll said: "We've got options up front so we just rotated the squad. Gareth was a pair of fresh legs had looked sharp in training and was eager to play so we gave him a game."
It was Coppinger's first time this season in the front three, which many fans feel is his best position, and he helped add an extra cutting edge to the attack.
Although again disappointed that Rovers didn't score, O'Driscoll was pleased to keep a clean sheet for the third successive game.
He said: "Their biggest threat was always going to be from set plays or the counter attack.
"When they broke the play up they had the pace to pose problems. They played with two wingers and Nathan Tyson is as quick as anyone in this league. I thought that we kept our shape and our discipline. We maybe got a bit frustated at times, but that was understandable."
Forest boss Colin Calderwood came under fire from some of the 2,589 visiting fans on the final whistle with chants of "Calderwood out."
