OWLS fan group Wednesdayite have welcomed the club's official announcement about a search for a buyer.
Chairman Darryl Keys sees it as way of possibly stimulating interest - though the consortia led by Geoff Sheard and Jon Sotnick remain in the hunt.
Keys revealed that he has been in touch again with both men this week.
"We welcome anything that is going to stimulate meaningful investment in the club," said Keys, who is on a business trip in America.
"I've been in contact with both consortia in the last few days and they were reasonably satisfied with their progress.
"If the club's statement stimulates the negotiations with the two consortia and a formal offer is made, or if it brings someone new to the table, then that can only be a good thing.
"We have to think about the club."
Keys said he had
no reason to suggest that the Sheard and Sotnick groups would not firm up their proposals.
Sheard told The Star: "We are in the middle of a takeover bid for Sheffield Wednesday and, because I am bound by Takeover Panel rules, I cannot comment further."
Wednesday have formally announced to the Stock Ex-change that they have instructed their financial advisors, Deloitte and Touche, to seek a buyer and have not yet received a bid that is "sufficiently clear or developed".
Keys listened to the Norwich match on the radio and viewed pictures on the internet soon after it ended.
"It wasn't the same as being there, but it was great to see a full house," he said.
"It showed to any investor what potential the club has."
Owls chief executive Kaven Walker has described Wednesday as one of the best potential investments outside the Premier League.
He says: "Anybody who was here for the game against Norwich will have had a glimpse into what can be achieved at this club.
"We have some of the best fans in the country and are confident that next season many more supporters will share in the unique experience of matchday at Hillsborough.
"Just think what the club and city would be like if we were challenging for promotion!
"The club is a well-run business with some excellent assets, including our fans, stadium and training ground.
"The potential exists for this club to regain its position as one of the greatest in the country. What we need is investment to make this happen."
