SHEFFIELD Wednesday are set to unleash Akpo Sodje in the next stage of their pre-season campaign.
The comeback striker went on the Holland trip and is in full training but was not used in the two friendlies abroad.
The games were played on an artificial surface and the Owls felt that this was not ideal for his newly recovered ankle.
But Sodje is keen to get back into the action and he looks set to play at MK Dons on Tuesday (7.45pm).
Manager Brian Laws confirmed: "We didn't play Akpo in the Holland games - but he'll be itching to play against MK Dons.
"On grass, there's no problem, But we didn't think that Astroturf was suitable for him."
Wade Small and new signing Jimmy Smith were rested for the second tour match after picking up injuries in the first and being lined up for further checks after the squad's return to England.
Smith took a knock on his ankle and went off just before half time in Tuesday's 2-0 win against Haarlem. Small dislocated two fingers in the same game.
Richard Wood sat out the Haarlem match after suffering a cut on his forehead in training but he played in the 3-0 win against Stormvogels Telstar on Thursday.
Wednesday face an MK Dons side who are under the new management of former Chelsea and Italy star Roberto Di Matteo; his "debut" for the League One outfit is against Reading today.
The Owls will also send a team to play Stocksbridge at Bracken Moor on Wednesday (7.45pm).
Wednesdayite are proceeding with their arrangements for a ballot on Geoff Sheard's offer for their shares - with no indication yet which way the vote will go.
Chairman Darryl Keys said: "Some of our members may feel that there are too many gaps in the information we have received. Some may not be concerned about the level of information and may just want a regime change; other may be 50-50 and may be swayed by whatever recommendation our board give. "It will be a very interesting exercise."
