WEDNESDAY today signed West Brom striker Bartosz Slusarski on loan for the rest of the season.
He will join the Owls for training tomorrow and be in the squad for Saturday's home game against Stoke.
Slusarski is a 6ft 1ins Poland international who joined Albion for almost £700,000 from Groclin Grodzisk last August and had a loan spell at Blackpool earlier in the season.
Owls manager Brian Laws sealed the deal for the 26-year-old before today's final deadline of the season, with Marcus Tudgay injured and uncertainty surrounding Enoch Showunmi, whose loan from Bristol city is due to expire after this weekend.
Laws said: "We're delighted to bring Bartosz in. He's not been in the West Brom side; everybody knows they have fantastic firepower and strikers there have to wait for their opportunity.
What do you think? Post your comments below."He's got quality. I have seen him a few times in the their reserves, and he's scored a lot of goals there."
"He has good feet, he's a big lad and decent in the air.
"We have two players who are similar in Deon Burton and Ben Sahar. We need that bit of difference.
"We also have Jermaine Johnson, who can play up front; he'll be in my thoughts as well."
Laws also revealed that the Owls had rivals for Slusarski: "He was wanted by another club who are at the top end of the table.
"Tony Mowbray didn't want him to go there and give an edge to a club who are within touching distance of West Brom."
Laws said that a decision on whether to extend Showunmi's loan would be taken after the weekend.
"The one thing that's missing from Enoch's game is a goal; that's probably preying on his mind a little bit."
