I realise you must receive lots of emails/phone calls etc every day regarding the take over and the current situation at Sheffield Wednesday.
I realise this must be a very difficult process and all parties are trying their best to resolve the situation.

I realise this must be a very difficult process and all parties are trying their best to resolve the situation.

However, members of
an online forum I belong to (Vital SWFC,
http://www.sheffwed.vitalfootball.co.uk) were disgusted to hear about
abuse Geoff Sheard said he received after the Wolves game.

What do you think? Post your comments below.

To this end, I have created an online petition to show Mr Sheard and
his consortium the backing he has among the rank and file
Wednesdayites, the normal Joe Bloggs down the road who want to see the
best for Wednesday.

Personally abusing the single ray of light we have had for a number of years is absurd, and indeed dangerous to the future of the club should Mr Sheard decide he's had enough.

I do have faith in Mr Sheard however and don't think he'd just give up
at this stage.
I believe he has shown much perseverance and dedication in the process so far, and so I am wanting to get the petition out to
as many people as possible to show Mr Sheard and his associates just
what this takeover would mean to the general fanbase.
Finally, the petition was live for a little over two and a half
hours and had over 150 signatures.

Thank you for your time, any help is greatly appreciated. The petition
can be found here:

Up the Owls, up with Geoff Sheard, down with moronic scum who are an insult to our fine club.

Agreed!

Think its disgusting giving abuse but have to admit I'm frustrated by all the mystery surrounding this

Might help Mr Sheard, if you occassionally made a meaningful Press statement on progress and offered a timescale for completion of your take-over. Don't understand the abuse but certainly understand the mounting frustration of Owls fans (it's now 6 month's since you began the bid!! )

up the owls and sheard you cannot abuse the man who is the only man in years to be giving fans hope of a take over what were those idiots at the wolves game thinking what ever they said they dont speak for the majority of wednesday fans including me i for one want this takeover and if these things take time then i am willing to wait

Has anyone thought that it might not be Geoff Sheard that's holding up the takeover?

Has anyone actually thought full stop?!

So then CartertonOwl, what do you suggest we do when the 8 days is up and 'Sheard gets lost'?......or are you quite happy with things the way they are?

Why should Geoff Sheard give press conferences when Radio Sheffield are stirring up the negativity towards him?.....imo.....I'm pretty sure they'll be fawning all over him once the takeover is completed...... anyroads, I suspect he doesn't want to give an inaccurate timescale again and would prefer to wait until it's certain.

Just remember that without a takeover we're doomed, it makes no odds whether Geoff Sheard takes 8 days. 8 weeks or 8 months ......we need him more than he needs us, so be patient and stop slinging abuse in frustration.

UTO!

Thank you for printing my email, can I urge every single Wednesday fan, whether in Sheffield or abroad, to sign the petition!

Have to say I agree completely weshallovercome. Deadlines do not help anybody, let alone a complex takeover deal!

It's a very complex takeover, but I understand the ever moving goalposts haven't helped...plus loan note complication, but I'm confident Geoff will get there in the end.

Well done with the email and petition, Nicola.....a great gesture and I'm sure GS will appreciate it, I certainly do.

Mr Foley,

I guess we all feel embarrassed that Sheard was abused at Wolves. I'm sure he has done nothing to deserve that sort of treatment. Whilst the takeover is taking a lot longer than anyone can undertand, and I'm sure some of the fault lies with Sheard, it is hard to understand why everybody is getting so uptight about it.

The simple fact is that, even though there has been a potential buyer out there for 6 months, nobody else is interested in buying the club. So what point there is in trying to force a deadline on Sheard, I do not understand.

Also, I'm sure he may have been annoyed / upset about being abused at Wolves (and at least he was there to get abused), if he really is the hard nosed businessman we would all like to think, then I don't think he needs the comfort of a petition. It all seems a bit obsequious to me.

Let him get on with what he has to do, and if it fails because he couldn't take a bit of name calling, then he probably wouldn't have had the right character to run the club would he. I can't believe he received worse abuse than Allen did, or several others before him.
