THE form of Sheffield Wednesday's strikers in pre-season is good news for the comeback prospects of Francis Jeffers.
Owls boss Brian Laws believes that the goal output of his front men means there will be no pressure to ensure Jeffers is rushed back in time for the start of the season.

"It's great to see us getting among the goals - last season at this time we couldn't buy a goal from the strikers," said Laws.

"If we weren't scoring, if the front people weren't getting goals, there might have been more pressure on Franny to get back as soon as possible.

"But, we said we wouldn't rush him and we're not going to do that and the current situation means we can ease him back in.

"The lad has been out since the end of January and he hasn't yet had any match action and we are only a fortnight away from the start of the season."

Laws had been looking to get Jeffers some action in the friendly at Bury tomorrow but has still not decided whether he will figure and may well decide to give him a bit longer.

Akpo Sodje, who had also been out since January, got 45 minutes at MK Dons on Tuesday and is set to get a bit longer against Alan Knill's League Two side tomorrow although it seems unlikely he will play the full 90 minutes.
