Sheffield Wednesday have moved to secure the Hillsborough futures of defenders Richard Wood and Tommy Spurr.
Both their deal have been extended by a further year to take them through until the end of the 2009/10 season.
With Wednesday's own future uncertain amid stalling takeover talks, fans have been keen to see the club's rulers be decisive and show they want to hang on to their better and young players.
Owls boss Brian Laws confirmed: "They are going nowhere. We are looking for the futures of Richard, Tommy and Mark Beevers to be secured for as long as possible."
It signifies an about-turn for 23-year-old team captain Wood; the Ossett born 6ft 3ins defender made a transfer request earlier this season. Coventry City, Crystal Palace and Birmingham City were sniffing around.
Leeds-born Spurr, 21, was also wanted by QPR, last year.
*Luke Boden, 19, has joined Rushden & Diamonds on loan until December 9.
