LEE Grant believes that when the players clinched Championship safety they repaid the faith that Owls boss Brian Laws had shown in them.
The Wednesday keeper also feels that Laws has done a good job in leading the escape from relegation in a turbulent season.
"There have been so many ups and downs," said Grant, who was voted Players' Player of the Year and the fans' Player of the Month for April.
"There was a lot of speculation about the gaffer's future after the terrible start we had. Thankfully, we repaid the faith he showed in us and kept the club up.
"Everyone is aware of the situation the club has been in this season, financially, and of the uncertainty upstairs.
"We did our best, as players. The manager did his best to focus on the Championship. It goes without saying that he's done a fantastic job, considering.
"It's a thankless task. Some people will look at Sheffield Wednesday and say they should be right up there in the table.
"But when you consider all the turmoil that's gone on, you know it's not all going to go swimmingly. "
Grant also believed that the team's tenacity was instilled into them by Laws: ""It's down to the manager. There was a sense of grit and determination - a feeling that we were hard to beat," he said. "The manager worked hard to instil that into us.
"He has done a good job."
Meanwhile, Laws and chief executive Kaven Walker are beginning to form plans for next season against the background of a possible takeover.
The club are carrying on as normal for the time being but know that new investment would make a big difference to financial strategy.
Wednesday's advisors Deloitte and Touche will now be using their business and financial contacts and expertise to lead the search for a buyer, with the Geoff Sheard and Jon Sotnick consortia also in the hunt though yet to make official bids for shares.
The finance company will carry out their own exhaustive checks on all potential investors before presenting their findings to the club for the board to make a final decision.
