EX-BLADES boss Bryan Robson was greeted with a mix of boos and cheers when he made his return to Bramall Lane to play in the England v Germany Legends match - which saw the home side lose 5-1.
Robson's talented defence work was not in question as he captained a confident looking veterans team.
Germany took advantage of two early opportunities though and Fredi Bobic got the opener in the 11th minute. Former Euro 96 winning team mate Mario Basler got their second a minute later in the Derek Dooley Memorial Cup, in aid of the British Red Cross China Earthquake appeal.
Bobic increased Germany's lead in the 68th minute but Rob Lee was brought down in the box in the 73rd minute and Lee Sharpe hit home a penalty to give England some hope of a comeback at 3-1. Germany's Maurizio Gaudino put an end to that with Germany's fourth in the 79th minute.
A botched save allowed Bobic to celebrate his hat-trick and a 5-1 victory.
