Grace Momanyi brushed aside the disappointment of her late omission from Kenya's Olympic Games team with a solid victory in the Bupa Great Yorkshire Run today.
Momanyi, less than 48 hours after posting a 5000metres personal best at the IAAF Golden League meeting in Brussels, showed her versatility as a road runner by winning the 10km race in Sheffield with a time of 32minutes 44seconds.

Neither her performance on Friday or today's success will atone for being ousted from the 10,000m in Beijing when Kenya's selectors decided at the last minute that Peninah Arusei would be a better medal shot.

Arusei was never in contention in the race in Beijing and finished 18th as Elvan Abeylegesse, who just snatched victory from Momanyi by a stride over the distance in Bangalore earlier in the season, took the silver medal behind Tirunesh Dibaba.

Dont miss The Star on Monday for details.
