OWLS fan group Wednesdayite have held talks this week with four separate parties about possible investment in the club.
Chairman Darryl Keys has been heavily involved in the initiatives and remains doubtful about whether Geoff Sheard will be able to complete a deal, though Sheard still insists that he can.

The other groups have been sounding out Wednesdayite for information but it is understood that their interest is at a very early stage.

The fan group hold 10 per cent of the club's shares and have struck a new alliance with the Owls…

"We have talked to four different parties this week," said Keys."No-one has said 'no chance.' They all have the balance sheet and have done their homework and are aware of the issues.

"I'm quite comfortable with the way things have gone so far."

Keys said that so far only one of the four parties has also approached Wednesday's financial advisors, Deloitte and Touche, who are leading the hunt for a buyer of the club: "Hopefully we can help to get people to stage where they can approach Deloitte and Touche, or try to look at it from a different angle and see if things can be structured in a different way," said Keys. He said that any club structure "would have to be accepted by everyone; the investors, shareholders and the bank."

On the bid to bring in new money, he said: "There is a lot of work to be done. At our very good and very encouraging meeting with the board, it was clear that the directors are absolutely committed to finding new investment."

Wednesday are also believed to be attracting interest from America but Keys feels that Sheard may have been left exposed by investors who have not yet delivered.

Owls keeper Lee Grant has been voted as the club's Player of the Month for September.

Paul Sturrock, whose Plymouth team face the Owls tomorrow, was shortlisted for the Championship Manager of the Month award won by Burnley's Owen Coyle.

how can man city be bought in a few days, newcastle are lookin 2 be bought within a month and its taking wednesday 8 months to get interested parties, i think sheard is a waste of time, if he was serious about the club then having a seat in the directors box, he would have put the money up. hope a buyer can be sought but i doubt it. we have the best keeper in the league no doubt, said it last year as well, 3 points tomz, ive had them on my away selections again.

can you imagine who those 4 so called interested parties might be ??
probably former managing directors of hbos , lehman bros , the delorean motor company and the samaritans !
leave us alone wednedayite , we are enjoying our best start for donkeys years . leave the business side of things to those who know what they are doing and stop playing at it . lets do what we do best and just support the football team .
COME ON THE WEDNESDAY .

Fair play to wednesdayite, they seem to be dammed if they do and dammed if they don't! At least Daryl Keys is standing up to be counted, not a peep out of Mr Walker. One thing that this affair with Sheard has done is bring the club together and made it stronger, long may it continue.

People keep saying Sheard should pay up or shut up - when will they understand that he has no money himself and is supposedly only acting for a mystery consortium. The board should have put a deadline by which the deal needed to be concluded ages ago instead of letting it drag on like this. Very bad management of the situation in my opinion and now it seems they need Wednesdayite to sort it all out for them.

i agree chrisb wednesdayite and the board on talking terms has definatly brought the club as a whole closer and stonger rather than bickering over stupid things as for the investment i cant help but feel that it should be left to the professionals in terms of any investment seems wednesdayite are having a say in things and that could put other investers off. fingers crossed for another 3 points tomorrow and then its all down to oct 19th against that lot at the sty come on wednesday!!!!

A question for Penrhyn Bay Owl.

Since when has the business side of things at Hillsborough been run by someone who knows what they are doing ?
£30m in debt and two relegations suggests not for a long time.

whether we like it or not football clubs are run by business people irrespective of promotions or relegations .
what i am saying is its their responsibility to run the club and supporters to do just that , support the team thru thick and more thick .
this debt the club are plagued by is ancient history and talk of it is so boring . yes , it is fact but why oh why do supporters have to go on about it .
when we were a succesful club did we all go around spouting how much we had in the bank , i didn't , i just did then what i still do today support the team and don't consider the financial side of things one bit .
COME ON THE WEDNESDAY

barnmeg man city was onwed by one person and wasnt bought in a few days, there where rumours for a couple of months before when thaksin was being investigated, and the actual takeover didnt go through until last week the 6-0 portsmouth game.

The reason newcastle and man city are able to attract interest quicker is theyre in the prem pretty simple.

Heard about the US one a last week ago, the rumour was the frontman was John Harkes, at least D%T are seemingly doing something now
