HOOKER Craig Cook has played his last game for Sheffield Eagles after deciding to return to Australia.
The former Doncaster player has been first choice in the number nine shirt this season but has always said he may return Down Under, where he spent two years.
"We're sorry to lose Craig but he did say in pre-season that he would be moving to Austr
alia," said coach Mark Aston.
"He has been fantastic for us and I'd like to wish him all the best."
Cook joined the Eagles at the start of last season. His bustling, all-action style provided an alternative to Paul Pickering with whom he shared the hookers role with for much of last season.
This year an injury to Pickering gave Cook a run in the team and in ten games he has scored three tries.
Aston has cover at hooker with Pickering back from injury and Aussie Mick Hill.
"Craig can wind people up on a rugby field - his style provided a contrast to Paul Pickering," added Aston.
"But he's made his decision and now there's an opportunity for someone else to take the shirt."
Meanwhile Eagles captain Jack Howieson has been named in the Co-operative National League One Team of the Month for April.
The prop forward is the Eagles' only player in the 13 despite the club's good form that has taken them to third in the division.
