GEOFF Sheard will have to show official proof that he has the necessary funding before fan group Wednesdayite launch a ballot on his offer for their shares.
The takeover frontman has satisfied a similar demand from Dave Allen in lining up a deal for the former chairman's stake.

"It is a normal requirement in a situation like this," said Wednesdayite chairman Darryl Keys.

"This is something that Geoff Sheard now has to do. As soon as we hear from our lawyers that the funding is in place - and hopefully this process can be completed very quickly - we will immediately organise a ballot."

With Wednesdayite also hoping to hear more detail from Sheard on his plans and resources, Keys added: "We have always said that if there is a comprehensive solution towards taking the club forward then our shares would not be a problem. We want what is best for the club

"All four of the major shareholders (Wednesdayite, Allen, Keith Addy and Geoff Hulley) want the best for the club, so communication or a meeting between all four is something that we'd be happy to do, and if that included Geoff Sheard sitting around the same table then fair enough.

"We just want the affair to be settled as quickly as possible."

Wednesday have appointed Steve Watson as club captain in succession to the departed Lee Bullen. Richard Wood keeps the team captaincy which he held when Bullen was not in the side last season.

Manager Brian Laws sees Watson as an experienced figurehead and ambassador, who can oversee off-field responsibilities and public relations, while Wood concentrates on playing matters and is groomed for a more all-encompassing role in the future.

This story is not even worth comment, it's just a reprint of the last 30 stories that have been dragging on and on with no new information.
What I would like to know from sheard are things like how much money will Brian have to spend on players if he successfully takesover and are there any plans to improve the ground/facilities at hillsborough. Also will he put the prices up and even more out of reach of the honest working wednesdayite.

Do you know what my biggest fear is in all of this? That we will soon become the laughing stock throughout football if this carries on much longer. After 6 months of debate, and wrangle, we are STILL asking Sheard to 'show his money'?
Brian Laws, his staff, his players, deserve great credit for the admirable way they have conducted themselves over the past 6 months. They have been absolutely brilliant. The season ahead - on the field- looks bright indeed.

If the Wednesdayite shareholders stall this take-over bid then I can't imagine the uproar that will ensue.
If Sheard does not have the capital necessary then what has he been doing for the last 6 months.

Much more time wasting and he may well pull up stumps and go for something less complicated. Whoever dished out the shares to Wednesdayite in the first must have had his head between his legs

well said owl down under !
the sooner we see the back of mr key and co. the better .
let's just get back to the footy , takeover or not . just 2 more parts of the jigsaw to resolve in midfield and we are off and running .
just imagine a decent side turning out at s6 and no more wednesdayite , paradise !
COME ON THE WEDNESDAY

Why carn't "Wednesdayite" organise a vote now? And if the fund's are in place, then surely this will save time, then the take over will be concluded much quicker. B Law's will also know what kind of money if at all any will be made for any new players,or if he(B Laws)will still be in a job
