DONCASTER Rovers midfielder Mark Wilson hopes to be involved in the club's League One promotion play-off campaign.
The former Manchester United and Middlesbrough star has been sidelined for a number of weeks with a serious groin injury.

But he is back in training and feels he could be pushing for a place in the Rovers' squad for their semi-final second leg against Southend United at the Keepmoat Stadium a week tonight.

"My fitness levels are okay; it is just a case of doing some more ball work," said Wilson.

"Like all the lads, I'd love to play at the new Wembley Stadium were we to reach the final.

"We've got to get past Southend first, however, and that is the only game that the club is concentrating on.

"We played well at Roots Hall in the league early in the season and were unlucky to come away having lost 3-2 because we should have had a penalty at the end.

"We also beat them 3-1 in the return at the Keepmoat Stadium over the festive period, so we are obviously confident.

"I don't think that we were bothered who we play in the play-offs after just missing out on automatic promotion at Cheltenham at the weekend.

"I am sure that the three other sides in the play-offs were more worried about us than we were about them.

"Obviously, it was a huge disappointment to lose at Cheltenham and it took a couple of days for the players to get over it.

"I wasn't even playing but I was still gutted, and didn't get over the result myself until talking through the game with my father on Sunday afternoon.

"But everyone has been focused in training this week and the players all know what they've got to do tonight and what is at stake.

"We know we've got to play for the full 90 minutes tonight - something we haven't been doing in away games of late - but I am sure the lads will give of their best tonight.

"If we can get it right then we know that we are good enough to beat anybody in this League.

"Any sort of result, apart from a defeat, would be good tonight because I am sure that we can turn them over in the second leg at the Keepmoat Stadium."

Rovers have slight doubts about both Paul Green and Jason Price ahead of tonight's game.

"Paul tweaked an ankle on Tuesday and Jason has been carrying a bit of a hamstring problem so he's eased off training this week," said Rovers boss Sean O'Driscoll.

"Both of them travel."

Stuart Elliott is available again but skipper Adam Lockwood and fellow defender Steve Roberts are again ruled out.
