WHAT do Chelsea and Leeds have in common - apart from Ken Bates and a mutual loathing going back to the 1970 FA Cup Final?
Obviously they share narrow defeats in their biggest games of the season last week but they also share something else.

They were both hotly-tipped by TV, radio and newspapers pundits to shade promotion play-offs and Champions League finals respectively - and neither did.

Chelsea were obviously only a whisker away from victory on penalties but the power and desire that was supposed to drive both teams on to victory actually didn't.

Doncaster Rovers and Manchester United are both known for their passing and movement, pace and attacking style.

Leeds and Chelsea aren't. Chelsea have all the ability that a biliionaire can buy, but their strength lies in their strength.

On a lower division scale Leeds too have assembled a team of not a little skill but more power than flair.

It wasn't enough and Leeds were a poor second to Donny on the day. When it came down to it Rovers and United created a dozen chances between them in the two games, Chelsea and Leeds no more than five combined.

Leeds and Chelsea had brilliant seasons but most neutral football fans will think it's a good thing that the better footballing teams won in the end.

They are better to watch than the other two and while pretty football isn't everything, attractive, winning and successful football is.

Is Ronaldo off?

If Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't want to leave Manchester United why is he saying he will talk about his situation in two or three weeks?

European and world footballer of the year in-waiting Ronaldo had the perfect chance to put the Real Madrid transfer issue to bed at his Portugal press conference the other day and he chose not to. Why?
He might just be on his way.

Manchester United are taking it seriously hence the threat to take Real Madrid to FIFA over their outrageous public 'tapping-up' of Old Trafford's prize asset.

Would it be the end of Fergie's world if he went?

No way. Ronaldo is undoubtedly as good as it gets but no player is irreplaceable.

Govan Growler Ferguson would take the £100 million or whatever they got for him, buy three more world class players and make his team even better.
