Over 7000 bike fans were treated to an afternoon of thrills when the Arenacross tour visited Sheffield’s Motorpoint Arena.
The venue’s biggest ever biking audience saw Frenchman Fabien Izoird roar to victory in the main event, which carries the richest prize in European indoor racing.
Izoird was crowned the 2014 Garmin Arenacross Tour Series winner ahead of the final leg at Wembley Arena on March 1.
Rob O’Shea, Motorpoint Arena’s general manager, said: “Arenacross is an event that makes full use of the size and flexibility of the venue, whilst also seeing the biggest transformation of the building.
“The week before the event, we had ice hockey here... two days, and 10,000 tons of dirt later, we had an indoor dirt bike show with a capacity audience!
“Through a Herculean effort from all involved, the venue was back ready for the next Steelers game before long.
“The show on Saturday was amazing mix of entertainment and racing, with the audience leaving wanting more so it’s already looking like we will be heading for another sell-out when the 2015 Arenacross Series goes on sale. ”
