WOODLANDS Park’s Andy McIntosh won the 2011 Doncaster BA President’s Shield for bowlers with an individual handicap of four or more.

McIntosh, who only took up bowls last year, won the trophy in his first attempt in Doncaster individual competitions.

In the final he played the experienced Brian Gee of Wickersley Social Club, and quickly extended his 7-6 handicap lead to 11-6.

The game see-sawed for the next eight ends and Gee trailed 13-17, before McIntosh went within a point of victory at 20-13.

Gee won two more ends to make it 20-16, but the Woodlands player scored the winning point for a 21-16 win.

Fourteen-year-old Natasha Jackson of Yorkshire Main was a surprised semi-finalist.
