JAMES Toseland didn’t roar back from injury with a bang but the Kiveton race-ace insists his Silverstone return shows he’s back to full throttle in his 2011 WSB campaign.

JAMES Toseland didn’t roar back from injury with a bang but the Kiveton race-ace insists his Silverstone return shows he’s back to full throttle in his 2011 WSB campaign.

Wrist trouble has kept the two-time champion on the sidelines for most of the season- Toseland has only been able to don his BMW Motorrad Italia racing gear once since the opening round. On that occasion, in Utah, USA, the 30-year-old re-aggravated his wrist problem during a 15th place finish, and although a comeback earlier this month in Czech Republic had been mooted – Toseland was desperate to make sure he was fit for his home country round.

And although Toseland didn’t take the circuit by storm, he did end up back in the paddock with a 12th, a 13th, a wrist in one piece and a sense of relief. “I had always planned to get back for Silverstone” said Toseland. “It’s my home race so you always want to be here. It’s always special to come here to the new layout and that was the extra motivation I needed while I was doing my rehab to get back on the bike. The track and the facilities are fantastic and the atmosphere is always amazing, all of the British riders want to be here and do well here.

“But that’s one of the most frustrating things about being injured, of course physically you’re not ready but you get rusty as well by not spending any time on a bike. But now I am, and things will improve from here on in.”
