Toseland left frustrated by broken hand
JAMES Toseland believes he can perform for any team in the World Superbike paddock despite extending his podium drought to 13 races during round 11 at the Nurburgring yesterday.
The 29-year-old's future with the Yamaha Sterilgarda team is under much speculation having amassed just 179 points to sit sixth ahead of the 11th round of 13.
And he wouldn't have impressed his suitors much in Germany either, being penalised during qualifying for leaving the pit lane early but also crashing out of race one.
Former double World Superbike champion Toseland, who was demoted to eighth on the grid for his qualifying error, fell after just one lap of the opening race but did battle to eighth in race two.
And despite Yamaha Sterilgarda teammate Cal Crutchlow, linked with a move to MotoGP and his own future whereabouts still uncertain, Toseland remains adamant he isn't past his best.
"Other than Kawasaki, who have had a very tough year, I think I could confidently say I could do a job on pretty much any of the machines on the grid," said Toseland. "There are only two rounds left now so I have been thinking a fair bit about my future. We'll be having a meeting in Germany soon to hopefully sort my future out.
"I enjoyed riding around the Nurburgring. It is pretty new to me as I've not been to the track for 11 years and unfortunately I exited the pit lane apparently on a red light.
"I didn't do that intentionally but I was penalised so where as I would have qualified in third on the front row and I was put back to eighth.
"The first two rows are really important at the Nurburgring because the first corner is very tight. I was obviously disappointed about that but the officials took that stance and I couldn't argue with it."
Toseland's British rival Jonathan Rea took victory in race one in Germany while Noriyuki Haga climbed to the top step of podium for the first time since April after winning race two.
Yamaha Sterilgarda rider Toseland admits he is continually being hampered by a broken hand suffered way back during the opening round of the season at Phillip Island.
"It's not the biggest injury I've ever had but it is probably the most awkward and worst I've had over a season," he added.
"We've come to the conclusion that I won't need an operation at the end of the season, so that's good news."
n World Superbike Championship races will be broadcast on Eurosport, with the European rounds also available in High Definition. Eurosport Sky 410 & Virgin Media 521. Eurosport HD is on Sky 412 and Virgin Media 522.
