THE buzz around James Toseland might have been more about his love life than his riding of late – but the Kiveton ace is hoping to finally hit the headlines for his on-track exploits this weekend.
Since it was revealed by the Sunday Telegraph last weekend that the two-time World Superbike champion was dating world-renowned pop star Katie Melua the internet has been awash with Toseland’s love life.
But in what is turning out to be a nightmare World Superbike season it is his work life that he is concentrating on this weekend.
Due to a wrist injury sustained while testing in between rounds one and two the 30-year-old is gearing up for just his fourth race start of the 2011 season at what will be round eight in Brno.
The Kiveton rider will arrive in the Czech Republic way down in 26th in the overall standings but more determined than ever to re-ignite his career with the British round scheduled for July 31 at Silverstone.
“I am going to get the leathers on on Friday and I am going to have a good go,” said Toseland. “Katie will be there watching and it will be her first motorbike race so she is excited about it.
“But I am not going to risk anything with the Silverstone round in mind. If I don’t do any more damage at Brno then I will be in 100 per-cent fit for Silverstone, which is my priority with it being the home round.
He said: “I will just have to assess it when I get to Brno.”
WSB races will be shown on British Eurosport, with all European rounds in HD. British Eurosport – Sky channel 410 & Virgin Media 521. Eurosport HD is on Sky 412 & Virgin Media 522. Watch races live online at www.eurosportplayer.co.uk
