KIVETON’S James Toseland will be back in World Superbike action at Monza this weekend – but it will be a hunt for fitness not a podium pursuit in Italy.
After displacing the bones in his wrist in a practice crash at Donington Park, Toseland has missed the last two outings. Original medical reports suggested the 30-year-old would also miss round four in Italy but, after having the pins removed from his wrist, Toseland will be on track for the first free practice tomorrow.
And despite admitting a free practice berth doesn’t guarantee he’ll take to the track on race day, Toseland is optimistic. “I’ll definitely be getting on the bike,” said Toseland – who will arrive in Italy 22nd in the standings. “The wrist is making good progress. I’m doing daily physio and conditioning. The team will maybe have a replacement rider ready in case but they have said they would prefer me to just to ride around. I ride for an Italian team and 800 guests are coming from BMW. But I am not thinking about results.”
