BLADES bosses are bracing themselves for a last-minute rush for tickets as the countdown to Sheffield United’s biggest game of the season draws to a close.
The club expects ticket sales to beat the 30,000 mark in the final few days leading up to the team’s trip to Wembley.
The majority of loyal Blades supporters snapped up their tickets for the League One play-off final well in advance, with streams of fans queuing outside Bramall Lane as soon as they went on sale.
But United believes many who were reluctant to make the journey will experience a last-minute change of heart as the week draws to a close.
Dave McCarthy, managing director of Sheffield United, said: “Our ticket office continues to be busy with last minute ticket purchasers.
“Inevitably, some Blades fans have been in two minds about going to Wembley, but it seems now that quite a few have decided with a few days to go that they are not going to miss out on what could be a momentous occasion and want to buy tickets.”
United have sold their allocation of the most expensive tickets for the clash against Huddersfield Town, but there are still tickets left in other lower-price categories.
The ticket office at the Lane is open daily from 9am until 5pm.
The final day to buy tickets is tomorrow.
Fans can also book tickets online. The club has a limited number of train and coach tickets which can be purchased at the ticket office, by calling 0871 995 1889, or visiting the website www.sufc.co.uk
