THERE haven’t been many weekends this season when Wednesdayites could enjoy a glass of something while United fans were left to wallow in self pity.
But after the Owls startling victory at promotion chasing Hull City on Saturday evening followed the Blades abject display against Yeovil Town at home the comments on thestar.co.uk were distinctly one-sided in their praise.
Silverblade spoke for a lot of Unitedites: “Home form is very shambolic at the moment, the defense again look very tentative and vunerable needs sorting or we will struggle to make even the playoffs, owls fans are top of the world again but that can change sure as night follows day then it will be back to “taxi for DJ”, have your fun it won’t last.”
DexterMorgan could foresee problems for the Blades: “Memo to SUFC squad: In the vain hope that you make it to the play offs, could I suggest that between now and then that you get some penalty practise in.”
TheSaxon said excuses were beginning to come out of Bramall Lane: “I’m neutral with the owls v blades thing. But I would like to say that this is the second time Wilson has blamed the pitch.
“Come on Danny, both teams have to play on the same surface. To call the second goal strange is a bit daft. It wasn’t strange. It was a right mess up!”
One of Wednesday’s best performances of the season had nottsowl celebrating: “Well played Wednesday great result and Giles Coke’s goal should have been allowed so I shall say EXCELLANT so keep it up and now let’s build for the future and yes Dave Jones should be complimented.”
M1ccowl cut himself a small piece of humble pie with this comment: “Credit where its due.
“This was the best performance I’ve seen under Jones management.
“All the things I moaned about before, defending too deep/lack of effective central midfield/ too much hoof down the middle/no passion etc etc were all corrected.
“For the record 5 Jones recruits and only two Megson recruits in starting 11.”
And tonyowl could see plenty of reasons to be positive: “Yes, credit where credit’s due, well done Dave Jones and the backroom staff.
“Now we are developing some real team/ squad spirit and belief, keep it up boys and lay the foundations for a really solid future.”
