SATURDAY was a bad day at the office in more ways than one for Preston North End.

Beaten 2-0 by Sheffield Wednesday in the Sky-televised clash, Lilywhites manager Graham Westley criticised his squad for their lacklustre showing and accused some of his players of leaking tactical information to the opposition.

Westley, who has won only two of his 15 matches since arriving from Stevenage, said the Owls bench had told him that they had known about Preston’s line-up and game-plan before kick-off.

Former Barnsley striker Iain Hume later took to his Twitter account to deny that he or any of his fellow players leaked team information before the fixture.

Gerimo posted on thestar.co.uk website: “Wouldn’t have made any difference; they were awful.”

Handsworth also waded in, saying: “What a load of nonsense. You could not leak anything because there is nothing to leak. Watch the video of the game, You are a poor team, commited to niggly fouls.

“A good job the referee was useless. Thank yourselves lucky it was ony two nil.”

Ldn Rd Blade added: “If one of his [Westley’s] teams hadn’t scored five against Wednesday this season, I could seriously dislike him.”

Two second-half goals from Gary Madine maintainedWednesday’s flying start under Dave Jones and boosted their hopes of pipping United to the second automatic promotion place in League One.

Kojam said: “Excellent performance; only one team on the field! Madine, Semedo, Antonio and both Johnsons especially were all top of the range! It’s a pleasure to watch, and I for one would be worried about us if I were a fan of the other top teams!

“I hope Dave Jones succeeds but I still hope all Wednesday fans respect the job and the team that Gary Megson built.”

HeavenlyOwl said: “A great result against an aggressive, negative, constantly fouling Preston team, who were poor. First half was frustrating due to their boring spoiling tactics. Second half we passed more and created chances.

“Once Madine had buried the first goal, we took control and could have had another three or four. Preston were dire. Antonio ran the game, he was brilliant and Madine back to his scoring ways. Good performances from many players.”

Skyisbluecloudsarewhite added: “Good result, two good goals and a lot better second half.”
