Sheffield’s Jonny Marray will hope to book a place in the last four of the Aegon International alongside doubles partner Colin Fleming on Wednesday.
The duo beat fellow British players Jamie Delgado and James Ward 7-6(3) 6-4 in Eastbourne to set up a quarter-final tie with American Eric Butorac and Israel’s Andy Ram.
Marray and Fleming dropped an early break against Delgado and Ward but fought back to take the match into a tie-break.
An early break in the second set ensured a comfortable passage to the last eight of the ATP 250 Series tournament.
Also in action on Wednesday in the singles competition are Britain’s top two women’s players Laura Robson and Heather Watson and 18-year-old Kyle Edmund, who plays France’s Gille Simon.
