JONNY Marray is wasting no time in preparing for tennis’ clay court season as he flew out to Monaco yesterday to begin the build up for the next ATP Masters Series event.
Sheffield-based Marray was a key part of Great Britain’s Davis Cup squad that beat Russia last weekend alongside regular doubles partner Colin Fleming.
The pair are now getting as much practice time as possible on clay before the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters begins on April 14.
Marray told The Star: “We’ve got out here as quickly as possible because there are plenty of courts for us to get used to the clay again.
“There are plenty of tournaments between now and the French Open (May 26-June 9) so hopefully we can have a decent run in a few.
“We’ve planned to have a week off at some stage but there’s no let up at the moment, it’s one tournament after the other.
“This is everything I’ve always wanted to do though!”
There are three Masters Series events before the French Open. The Monte-Carlo Masters this month and the Mutua Madrid Open and the Internazionali BNL d’Italia in Rome in May.
