Jonny Marray and doubles partner Colin Fleming had a further blow after losing in the quarter-finals of the China Open.
Their victors, Horia Tecau and Max Mirnyi, received a walkover into the final after Novak Djokovic and Stanislas Wawrinka withdrew from the event in Beijing.
It meant they missed out on a guaranteed 250 rankings points and a much greater share of prize money than the $16,980 they received for their last eight berth.
However, Marray knows the ATP Tour moves on quickly and he’s already looking forward to the Masters Series in Shanghai, which starts on Monday.
He said: “We’re Disappointed but we have to look forward to Shanghai now. It’s a big tournament with a lot of ranking points up for grabs.”
