Sheffield’s Jonny Marray is hoping for a strong finish to the season - starting this week at the Swiss Indoors.
Marray and playing partner Colin Fleming have just two tournaments remaining this season and face a potentially tough first round tie against Austrian pair Julian Knowle and Oliver Marach in Basel.
The 32-year-old Marray expects a tricky match: “I’ve lost to Knowle a couple of times this year. He made the final last week in Vienna (losing with Daniel Nestor against Florin Mergea and Lukas Rosol).
“Haven’t played Oli for at least a year but both are very experienced players so it will be a tough match. We will give it our best shot.
“If we play well there’s no reason why we can’t get through.”
Marray, who moved up a place in the doubles World Rankings to 30th despite not playing last week, is excited about the next fortnight.
“Looking for a good finish to the season here and in Paris (the Masters Series),” he said. “Couple of big tournaments so a good opportunity.”
