Paralympic stars set for city swim

PARALYMPIC star Ellie Simmonds will headline the Nationwide Short Course Disability Swimming Championships at Ponds Forge this weekend.

Simmonds, aged 18, won two gold medals at the London Paralympic Games this summer to add to her two from Beijing in 2008.

Other gold medallists competing include Oliver Hynd, Jessica-Jane Applegate and Jonathan Fox. The championships start on Saturday at 9am, with a victory parade of Paralympic medallists at 1.40pm. Admission is free.
