DONCASTER DARTES’ Joe Lichfield struck gold in the second of the North East Regional Championships at Sheffield’s Ponds Forge.
Litchfield ended the weekend with three gold medals, a silver and a National qualifying time (NQT). Shannon Dodson won gold in the 100m freestyle and silver in the 200m backstroke, the latter earning her a NQT.
Mark Beech won gold in the 200m backstroke. Jamie Clarke grabbed bronze and a NQT in the same race after missing out twice earlier in the season by three hundreths of a second. Jarvis Parkinson earned two NQT’s after medalling in the 100m butterfly (silver) and 100m freestyle (bronze). Oswald Hood won bronze in the 200m breaststroke.
DARTES’ younger swimmers had a good weekend. Laura Brookes was third in the 100m butterfly. Tyler Dodson and Amber Hardy finished fifth and seventh respectively in the 400m freestyle.
In the 200m Individual medley, Dodson was seventh and Hardy eighth. Matthew Jubb was fourth in the 100m freestyle.
Other finalists included Natasha Crow, eighth in the 400m freestyle, George Scatchard, fifth in the 200m backstroke, Luke Shpylka, eighth in both the 200m backstroke and the 100m freestyle, and Oliver Richardson, seventh in the 200m breaststroke.
Alex Pollard knocked 5.26 seconds off his personal best in the 200m backstroke. Chloe Hardy sliced 3.32 seconds off her best in the 400m freestyle.
