The prospect of winning more silverware drives on Nick Matthew.

The Sheffield star will be chasing the third world title of his glittering career when the tournament gets underway in Manchester on Monday.

Matthew, beaten by Gregory Caultier in the US Open last week, faces a qualifier in his opener.

The fourth seed said: “If I had to retire tomorrow I’d be happy to hang up my racquet being able to say I’m a two-time world champion, but I want to be greedy and I want to get another title and to win in Manchester would be very special.”
