SHEFFIELD’S Nick Matthew’s bid for a third straight world title remains on track after an excellent 3-0 (11/5, 9/11, 11/5, 11-5) victory over Egypt’s Amr Shabana in Qatar.

The win puts 32-year-old Matthew through to the semi-finals today where he’ll take on World No5 Ramy Ashour, who is also from Egypt.

Matthew, the World No2, is hoping to emulate the legendary Jansher Khan by winning three world crowns in consecutive years.

The final takes place tomorrow.
