ENGLAND’s Nick Matthew saw off a battling Simon Rosner in the World Team Championships in Paderborn, Germany yesterday.

The Sheffield squash player overcame the German 11-13, 11-7, 11-5, 11-8 in 76 minutes in front of a sell-out crowd of 1,000 as England, who are seeded to meet Egypt in Saturday’s final, eased to a second successive 3-0 win in Pool A in as many days.

World No 1 Matthew said: “It has to be the best crowd I have played against.”

England lock horns with Ireland today before the knock-out stages begin tomorrow.
