Nick eyes fourth British crown

NICK Matthew aims to right the wrongs of last year at the 2012 British National Squash championships.

The Sheffielder who is looking for his fourth national title was edged out by Daryl Selby in last year’s pulsating final, losing 3-2 in an 84-minute marathon.

The 31-year-old will enter this year’s competition as second in the world only to fellow Yorkshireman James Willstrop, (North Walsham) who replaced Matthew at the top earlier this month.

The tournament (February 7-12) will be the first time that the world’s top two ranked players will both be participating in the series, which is now in its 38th year.

It is also the first time since 2004 that the top two players both hail from England.

The Championships will be staged at the National Squash Centre Manchester.
