WORLD number one Nick Matthew will spearhead England in the World Team Squash Championship in Germany this month.
The Sheffield ace has been selected to lead England’s challenge along with fellow Yorkshireman James Willstrop at the tournament, which takes place in Paderborn from August 21-27.
The strong four man team also includes Peter Barker and Daryl Selby, who are ranked seven and 12 in the world respectively.
This will be Matthew and Willstrop’s fifth appearance at the event.
England will be looking to make amends after being beaten by eventual winners Egypt when they were hampered by the loss of Matthew to an ankle injury. They finished a disappointing fourth behind France and Australia.
Matthew, capped 77 times by his country, is a three-time British National champion and he bagged two gold medals in the Commonwealth Games in Delhi last year.
“The last World Team Championships proved a nightmare week for all of us and we all want to put that right in Paderborn,” he said.
