SPEEDWAY: Tiger John swaps sides

JOHN Gilburn has vowed to switch allegiances for the opening Speedway event of the year at Owlerton on Thursday.

Gilburn, who has been in charge of the stadium since moving from Manchester, insists he's backing the Tigers for glory against former club, Elite League Belle Vue.

Said Gilburn: "What an opener to the Speedway season at Owlerton!

"Having been born in Manchester, and having been taken to see Belle Vue Aces by my parents as a young lad, many people would expect me to be supporting the Aces.

"But my loyalties now lie firmly with Sheffield, my adopted home. I used to look forward to Belle Vue Greyhounds v Sheffield Greyhounds, but I can honestly say, we never managed to win.

"This time, I'm looking forward to being on the winning side!"

Fans can now watch the action from the restaurant. Bookings: 01142 853142.
