Speedway: Hungry Tigers can't wait for their next outing
TIGERS are counting down the days to their next Premier League outing as they look to charge towards the play-offs.
Eric Boocock's men will face Newport at Owlerton next Thursday, looking to build on a run of one defeat in the last 10 meetings.
It's a run which has seen them recovery superbly from a woeful start to the season in the Premier Trophy – and ironically their only defeat in the sequence was a home meeting!
Skipper Paul Cooper says the team is buzzing and he believes they can achieve something.
"The lads are up for it and as soon as we finished the meeting against King's Lynn on Thursday we agreed we wanted an away meeting before next week, but there's nothing we can do about that," said Cooper.
"We've just been riding home meetings and thankfully it will get busier for us in August. Hopefully we can keep this kind of form going and we can pick up some points away from home.
"I know it was a major blow to lose at home to Newcastle but even if we met them in the play-offs we would fancy our chances of gaining some revenge. We had things go against us and yet everything went for them on that night, that happens in Speedway sometimes.
"There's a real buzz in the camp and it has to be a good sign when all the lads want to do is get out there and race.
"Simon Lambert has been a good addition at reserve, it was harsh on Arlo Bugeja to release him but we look a more solid unit. Hopefully we can get a good result against Newport on Thursday to set us up for a big month."
