Wells keen to start season

RICKY Wells is travelling back to the UK earlier than expected to step up preparations for the new season.

Wells, one of several new signings in a revamped Tigers team, is facing a busy season as he doubles-up with Elite League Wolverhampton.

And he wants to return to his Tamworth base by the middle of next month to give himself plenty of time ahead of the new campaign which opens on Thursday, March 22, when Tigers face Belle Vue.

Wells said: “I just can’t wait to get started and I want to give myself the best possible chance of scoring well for both Wolverhampton and Sheffield.

“I’m just getting down to making my travel plans and I’m hoping everything will fall into place for me to be back in three weeks from now depending on paperwork. I’ve enjoyed my time back home and I feel really enthusiastic about riding for both clubs.

“I’m going to be based back in Tamworth and I will have the same team around me that I had last season. I certainly feel I can improve my average a lot with both clubs.

“Sheffield is a track I am looking forward to racing on and it will be good to have that as my home track. I feel I finished last season well and I benefited from racing in both leagues so I’m looking forward to scoring well right from the start.”

“Both Wolves and Sheffield look to have good teams and I know a lot of the guys. It will be good to get back across.”=
