SHEFFIELD head to the East Midlands this evening as their competitive season starts with a League Cup clash against highly-fancied Leicester.
The Lions have built a strong septet and a magazine experts poll has predicted them a second-place league finish, underlining the size of Sheffield’s task at a difficult track.
Tigers were blown away by Elite League Birmingham in Thursday’s curtain-raiser but captain Simon Stead does not believe anything should be read into that result.
He said: “Birmingham have a team of seven Premier League number ones really, and it was our first meeting of the season.
“You can’t make anything of a meeting like that, they’re such a strong side. Everyone was working to get set-ups right and testing things out, and that’s what challenge matches are for. “Leicester will be an even bigger test in some ways.”
