SHANE Parker will officially bring the curtain down on his last season as a rider with a special event at Owlerton tomorrow.
The hugely popular Australian, who has spent just one season as a Sheffield rider, is heading home to start a new life with his family after a glittering UK career spanning over 20 years.
But he will be guest of honour at a farewell party in the stadium Panorama Room tomorrow night where he will say his farewells and mix with his loyal supporters.
Parker said: “It’s been an amazing season and I must admit joining Sheffield is something I should have done a lot sooner.
“There is a lot of sadness about the fact that my career has ended but the time is right and we are heading back to Australia to start a new life.
“The Sheffield fans have been brilliant to me and I can’t thank them enough for the way they’ve taken me to their hearts. I think they could see throughout the season that I was always giving it my best and I feel I did a pretty good job for the team.
“I’m looking forward to Thursday night and hopefully we will have a great party and see the season off in style.”
Tickets are priced at £12 for an evening with Parker which includes live music from The Magoos who appeared at the British Grand Prix in the summe.
Food is also included in the price.
