Tigers teammates going to the dogs!

TIGERS are to enjoy a night at the dogs as part of their pre-season preparations.

The Owlerton side will get together to enjoy a meal and a programme of greyhound racing at their home track along with club bosses Neil Machin, David Hoggart and Eric Boocock.

It's a worthwhile exercise with the club's newcomers, Josh Auty and Chris Mills, getting to know their colleagues.

Said Machin: "Our manager, Eric, wants to get the lads talking about the new season and we also want to bounce some ideas about the riding order.

"We have an excellent relationship with our landlords, A&S Leisure, so it all falls into place nicely.

"We'll be having a small flutter on the greyhound racing.

"Some of the lads may fancy moving to the casino afterwards, I don't necessarily mind that as long as they stay disciplined during the season.

"The Premier League is a very busy schedule and hopefully we can all stay fit and surprise a few people.

"All the lads are determined to prove the critics wrong because they feel we are being written off already."

Meanwhile, Machin has confirmed that the pits are to be moved as part of redevelopment work at the venue,.

But he insists it will not cause any disruption to the regular Thursday night speedway action.
