Tigers told to follow Parker example

TIGERS are being urged to learn from Shane Parker’s stunning run of form in tonight’s Premier League clash with Ipswich at Owlerton (7.45).

Parker continued his brilliant season with a 14-point haul in Sunday’s defeat at Newcastle after flying back from Poland where he was at the previous night’s Grand Prix.

He’s been a model of consistency throughout the season, but on too many occasions he has lacked the necessary support of his team mates.

Club owner Neil Machin wants to see some team members give the Australian the backing he deserves.

Machin said: “Ipswich are one of the top teams in the Premier League and in Kevin Doolan and Lasse Bjerre they have some classy performers.

“The team is packed with riders who can go well around our place and we will need a solid all-round team effort to get the maximum three points.

“Shane has worked out as a number one superbly and in Ricky Ashworth and Josh Auty we have other quality Premier League performers but we just haven’t been consistent enough this season.”

Tigers are expected to welcome back Ashley Birks who has been struggling with a shoulder injury for the last few weeks.

TIGERS: Parker, Skidmore, Ashworth, Sanchez, Auty, Lambert, Birks.

IPSWICH: Doolan, Poole, Tressarieau, Risager, Bjerre, Hart, Mills.
