Tigers target top as wins keep coming

TIGERS insist they can challenge for the Premier League title after six wins in their last eight matches propelled them to within reach of the leaders.

Despite Sunday's call-off at rock-bottom Newport, Sheffield are still sixth in the table - and are starting to hit form at the right time.

And if they can keep it up, then boss Neil Machin sees every reason why the Owlerton side can take a shot at knocking hot favourites and table-toppers King's Lynn off their perch.

"It's starting to come right for us. When the riders all click into gear, we are a match for anyone," he said.

"The team is on fire at home and we have been unlucky not to win more away from Owlerton. Last week at Workington, had it not been for a ludicrous decision from the referee to exclude Ricky Ashworth then we would probably have gone on to take the points – that would have made people sit up and take notice..

"Had we won at Newport on Sunday it would have taken us up to second, but we still have the top clubs in our sights and we'll be massively disappointed if we don't at least make the play-offs."

Machin's men face Rye House at home this Thursday and then head to midtable Stoke on Saturday.
