Tigers target sixth victory on the spin
ERIC Boocock is challenging his Sheffield Tigers side to make it six wins in a row when they face Glasgow at Owlerton tonight (7.45).
Boocock has seen his side transform their season with a stunning run of form which has helped them climb up the league table after a woeful start to the campaign. Now the boss wants to see them get the better of a powerful Glasgow side before heading into July and the defining month of the season.
He said: "I've seen it happen before. I've been involved at clubs where things haven't gone right and then we've clicked and had some great winning teams. I'm not surprised that that's happened at Sheffield but it was taking a long time, right up to June before it started to come good.
"That's half a season gone and that's what worried me because with the points system we have now you need to be scoring home and away, even if it's only nicking a point away from home. I'm sure that the lads are now thinking that if we can carry on at this rate we can go on and win the league. Our position is false, but we have the three home meetings this month which, if we win them all, should give us nine more points and we'll jump up the table.
"We've a big July ahead where if we get the points we want we're set up nicely for a big fling at the end. All we have got to do is keep going the way we are and we'll be in there at the end with a big shout."
Glasgow have strengthened their team by signing former Grand Prix star Joe Screen to partner Australian ace Travis McGowan. In Nick Morris at reserve they have a talented 16-year old who has just made the step up from National League.
