Tigers sign top Brit

TIGERS have snapped up British youngster Simon Lambert just a year after going close to signing him previously.

Lincolnshire lad Lambert has just been released by Scunthorpe after struggling for form and comes into the Tigers team to replace Arlo Bugeja.

The club insists Bugeja will be given every opportunity to continue racing at Owlerton after meetings until he finds a new team.

Lambert is the son of former Boston boss Stephen and has made several guest appearances for Sheffield in the last couple of years.

Sheffield co-boss David Hoggart said: "It's never easy making a team change because I can't speak highly enough of Arlo, he's a great lad with good machinery but he needs a break from Sheffield. A change of club will probably do him good at this stage of the season.

"Simon is a good lad, he has guested for us before and has never let us down. A change of club for him will do him good also and I know how delighted he is to be joining Sheffield and racing at a track he likes so much.

"We actually came very close to signing Simon for the 2009 season and we had agreed everything with King's Lynn but then circumstances changed and we had to go down a different route.

"So in many ways this move was meant to happen and if Simon can rebuild his confidence quickly then I feel sure we will be a lot stronger in the reserve department.

"He makes his debut against Rye House on Thursday and that should be a good meeting because they've booked Kevin Doolan as a guest and our own Robbie Kessler has just joined them on loan."
