ANGRY Tigers co-boss David Hoggart has slammed internet speculation which he says has unsettled two riders.

Hoggart claims both Ricky Ashworth and Simon Lambert, members of last season’s successful Premier League runners-up, have been upset by what they have read on forums, including the club’s official Facebook site.

And while it appears Lambert could be on the verge of a move elsewhere, Ashworth has made it clear he would like to stay at Owlerton if possible.

Said Hoggart: “Some of the stuff people write on the internet is a disgrace and very ill-informed. People should know better. These posts are unsettling are our riders.

“I’ve heard we have ruled out various riders from our plans but that simply isn’t the case.

“At this stage I can categorically state that we have not ruled Ricky or Simon out of our plans for next season despite what has been written by keyboard warriors. We are looking at all our options before making a final decision on which direction to go with the final two team members.

“Ricky and Simon are aware of our position and as soon as we have made a final decision we will make the relevant announcement.

“Forums and social networking sites have positive parts to play in the sport, but not all the time. In this instance, it is negative and has only served to unsettle a couple of riders.”

Ashworth is keen to stay on board at Owlerton

He said: “I would love to stay at Sheffield because everything about the place is superb, staying with them is my first priority.

“I’m ready to go for next season. I got a new engine at the end of last season and it was flying, I finished well in the PLRC on it and I’m ready to start next season on it. It’s pretty rare to have so much confidence in an engine before the start of a season.

“People are talking about the need for a genuine number one, well I feel I can be that person, I can beat anybody in the Premier League and I would like the opportunity to do that in Sheffield colours once again.

“I have many friends at Sheffield and Ian Hunter at Sheffield Window Centre has been a fantastic supporter and sponsor throughout my career.

“They have given me the platform for my speedway career and I appreciate that.”
