TIGERS have asked the Speedway Control Bureau to investigate the controversial postponement of yesterday’s trip to Glasgow.

Owlerton chiefs and fans were left fuming after the plug was pulled on the meeting at lunchtime and issued a statement in the aftermath.

Co-promoters Neil Machin, David Hoggart and Eric Boocock have apologised to fans who made the long trip.

The club said: “Sheffield Speedway received a telephone call from Glasgow Speedway at approximately 12.30pm informing us that the meeting had been postponed.

“We were told this was because it was raining and the weather forecast suggested it wouldn’t improve.

“This is in direct contradiction to what two members of our own team told us. They had travelled up last night and arrived at the track to inform us there was in fact no rain.

“We have asked the Speedway Control Bureau to conduct an inquiry.”

Glasgow were without Joe Screen, Christian Henry and Nick Morri and there were doubts over Josh Grajczonek who was travelling back from a World Championship event.

David Hoggart said: “ This was completely beyond our control and we don’t condone the decision in any way.”
