Teenage ace Auty signs new contract
JOSH Auty has ended speculation over his future by agreeing a new deal to stay with Sheffield.
The talented teenager, who turned 19 in September, is currently enjoying a working holiday in Australia and has had several options to consider.
There was reported interest from at least one rival Premier League club but Sheffield were always more likely to win the race for his signature as boss Eric Boocock enjoys a good friendship with Coventry counterpart Colin Pratt.
Auty remains a Coventry asset and will ride on loan to the Owlerton side – and he's hoping to double up and get some Elite League meetings with the Bees.
And he's revealed how he'll be back in the UK in plenty of time to prepare for the 2010 campaign.
He said: "It can be difficult to get laps in England in the winter so I've got plenty of meetings in Australia which should keep me sharp.
"I come back just before Christmas and that's perfect for me. I'll have a few weeks to ride as much as I can and also relax a bit, and then I'll come back and concentrate on getting my bikes ready for the start of the season.
"I've looked back and thought that at times maybe I haven't been as organised as I could have been, but I'm still only 19 and I'm still going to be learning for the next few years."
